The missing ear ring – 2

We were on a spiritual sojourn in a small place. After my bath one day, I noticed that one of my ear rings were missing. I went and searched thoroughly in the bath room first. I had put the washed clothes on a clothesline outside after the bath. With my husband I searched below the clothesline on the sand. We couldn’t find the missing ear ring.

To me, during a visit for spiritual purpose, it didn’t look appropriate to loose some gold. We didn’t mention this to our host any way. If I was destined to lose some gold, I had to lose it. Why should I disturb the host’s peace, that was my thought.

That night I got a dream. I saw a smiling Goddess who was holding a plate in her hand. I saw something shining on the plate and realized that it was my ear ring. She extended the plate towards me and then disappeared. On waking up I realized that it was a sign that I will get back my ear ring. So again I did a search in the bathroom and outside, to no avail!

Later I went to have my bath. The water had to be taken in the bucket and warmed with an immersion rod for bathing. I took some water in the bucket to clean it first, swirled it around, and was about to throw it into the drain when I noticed something shining at the bottom. Looking carefully, I saw the missing ear ring. I was so happy and later told the incident to the host. He was really amused to hear it.

Silence- our teacher

In this human life, whatever lessons we get, we have to understand them and take it to the depth of our being. The important aspect is that nobody or nothing can do this for us; it is totally a work that has to be done within.

When somebody is pointing the moon to us and we are looking in the direction and seeing the moon, there is no way that we can get the same view that the other person has. Similarly, we all are having colored glasses on our eyes through which we view the world. Unless we remove them, the truth cannot be discerned.

When ten people read a book, the same matter will be interpreted and understood in ten different ways. If they have to grasp the real truth of what they have read, they have to analyze it in their mind in silence. If one asks different people to understand the truth behind any spiritual statement, he/she will just get more confused and the possibility of knowing the truth will be diminished. Each one will be interpreting the same truth through their conditionings and beliefs.

Going into deep silence is therefore very essential for one’s spiritual truth. And this silence has to be total, not just an abstinence from talking. While observing silence if you are busy in answering e mails and are active on face book, that cannot be considered silence.

When we try to see our image while looking at a body of water, it won’t be clear if there are ripples in the water. We have to wait till the water becomes still. If we can go into absolute silence, our inner space becomes like still water and we will begin to experience universal truths in the absolute sense.

Are we practicing silence?

The missing ear rings

I was staying with my friend on a short vacation. She told that she lost her ruby ear rings some time back. Since there were many helpers in the house she wanted to know whether they had been stolen.

I didn’t get any feeling at all that some body had stolen them. I told her it was in the house only. She told that they had done thorough search twice before. But I was getting a definite feeling that they were in the house.

I came back home and whenever she used to call me up, she asked me again and again about the missing ear rings and my answer remained the same. About six months later, she called me up, she was very excited. She told that they were cleaning the carpet in the room and found the ear rings.

I have found in many instances that even though I get the feeling of the presence of lost things, when they would find them remains in the hands of the Almighty. Some things just can’t be speeded up.
